Current Opportunities

FirstWorks Youth Board Member

FirstWorks (FW) is a nonprofit arts organization based in Providence. We bring professional artists to Rhode Island students through experiences like interactive workshops, in-school matinees, performances in local cultural venues, residencies, summer camps, and more.

Are you passionate about increasing and improving arts experiences for peers and curious about how arts organizations work?

We are excited to invite RI high school students to join our 2024-25 Youth Board! Members help us make positive changes to our programs and receive a $250 stipend at the end of the year for their time. Starting in November, the Youth Board meets about one evening a month through the end of school year to do the following:

  • Provide critical insight and feedback on FW’s programs to ensure they are equitable, inclusive, relevant, and applicable for RI youth.
  • Practice designing an arts event, including budgeting skills
  • Get free, backstage access to FW productions.
  • Connect with artists and other voices in the local arts community to gain insight.
  • Practice budgeting and arts event planning skills, including designing an real arts event for students.
