FirstWorks is excited to announce that we are redesigning and expanding our on-demand Virtual Learning Library to better serve Rhode Island students and educators.
Our Virtual Learning Series first began in March 2020 as an immediate response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, over a dozen modules have reached 20,000+ views by educators, students, and their families.
The next iteration is to be released in February and will include informative descriptions, videos, and adaptable lesson plans for use in the classroom or online. Content will focus on two core themes:
- Raise Your Voice – Rooted in social justice, this theme considers how artists use and interpret ideas about their and others’ voices and what it means to use your voice in art and life
- Earth First – Revolving around environmental activism, this theme uses the arts as a resource to understand and explore the natural world
2022 will feature new content from indigenous musician and songwriter Thea Hopkins, Afro-Brazilian music and dance group Music from the Sole, and violinist and producer Johnny Gandelsman.
